Tina Kellegher - Sharon Curley

Tina was the centrepiece of The Snapper, and you can hear the name 'Sharon Curley,' echo in your head. However, her career never quite hit the heights of some of her co-stars. She had a small role in the 1993 film In the Name of the Father, around the same time as The Snapper, and she was also a regular on Ballykissangel from 1996 to 2001.

According toIMDB the actress picked up a few minor roles on Irish and English TV before landing the part of moneylender Ger Lynch on Fair City which she starred in from 2019 to 2021. She previously told The Sun that she loved playing the resident villain who was a strong female lead that had loads of 'different dimensions'.

She also appeared in small role in an episode of the globally renowned TV show Normal People. These days, Tina has been concentrating on her first love: theatre. Tina lives in Mullingar, County Westmeath, with her husband Gordon Wycherley who is a location manager for TV and they have two sons Michael and Brian.

Her latest piece of work was staring in a play called Isla that ran in the Civic Theatre in 2023.

Colm Meaney - Dessie Curley

He came a long way from playing stereotypical Dublin Da Dessie Curley to say the least! Colm is one of our biggest artistic exports and is a huge name in Hollywood.

He's appeared alongside the likes of Nicolas Cage in Con Air and Jamie Foxx in Law Abiding Citizen and he's even voiced a character on The Simpsons! But in 1996 he did return for the final instalment of Roddy Doyle's films, The Van as Larry- another classic that would be remembered by so many.

In 2019 alone, the Golden Globe-nominated actor starred in huge hits Tolkien, Seberg and The Last Right. His next big screen outing is alongside Liam Neeson, Kerry Condon, Ciaran Hinds and Jack Gleeson in In The Land of Saints And Sinners.

Aside from his cinematic starring roles, he has also added a slew of TV credits to his CV over the past couple of years, starring in an array of productions from Star Trek Deep Space Nine to Gangs of London. He even flexed his funny muscle again in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The Dublin man went on to star in No Way. A story about a plane crash, in the ocean and the passengers are surrounded by sharks... We are sure you can guess the rest.

Colm is now set to share the screen with fellow Dubliner, Barry Keoghan in Bring Them Down. The film, which centres around a feud between rival farming families.

The film is set to be released in cinemas on Friday, 7 February, and having already scooped up Best Picture at the Fantastic Fest movie, it seems very promising!

Ruth McCabe - Kay Curley

Ruth McCabe has been successful and very active on the acting scene, both on stage and in TV and film.

Her big break came back in the early 90s when she played opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in My Left Foot. A film that would be recognised around the world and picked up two Oscars.

She won an IFTA in 2011 for Best Supporting Actress in Television for her role in Single Handed and she went on to star in the Oscar-nominated Philomena in 2013 alongside Judi Dench. Oh and don't forget Intermission.

She was part of Sky's hugely successful Irish comedy TV show Moone Boy and you might also recognise her as Grano from RTÉ's Damo and Ivor.

Most recently she appeared in Aisha and Joyride which was one of the biggest Irish films of 2022 that also starred Olivia Colman, and is next to be seen in That They May Face the Rising Sun, based on a novel of the same name by Irish author John McGahern.

Brendan Gleeson - Lester

Though Lester wasn't necessarily a huge character in The Snapper, Brendan certainly went on to become the biggest star from the film.

He starred in great Irish films like The Butcher Boy, Braveheart, Michael Collins and The General, but he's also well-regardedinternationally. The talented Dubliner had big roles in films like Gangs of New York and the Harry Potter series.

He has played Donald Trump in a mini-series and he won an Emmy for his portrayal of Winston Churchill. Although there's a special place in our hearts for his role as Knuckles McGinty in Paddington 2.

He was nominated for an Oscar for The Banshees of Inisherin going up against his co-star Barry Keoghan. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, a BAFTA, and an IFTA for his work on the film.

Most recently, Brendan starred in the blockbuster film, Joker: Folie à Deux, alongside the one and only Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix. The actor played guard Arthur Fleck in the Joker sequel, garnering critical acclaim for his role.

Karen Woodley - Yvonne Burgess

Karen Woodley played George Burgess' daughter, Yvonne in the beloved classic.

She worked as an actor up until 2003 and sadly passed away in 2020 from cancer. Karen was married to fellow actor Andrew Connolly and the couple have two children.

Aisling Conlan - Georgina Curley

Aisling, who hails from Howth, played the titular character The Snapper, AKA Georgina Curley. In 2014, she declared herself to the world as The Snapper Baby in a funny tweet.

But since then she hasn't actually acted in anything else. Instead, she put her focus on sports.

A former Irish Canoe Slalom athlete, she competed in the World Championships in 2019. She has gone on to focus on track cycling and she describes herself as a 'coffee snob' on social media.

She married her long-time love Aaron Orange earlier this year and the couple are excited to be welcoming their first baby soon.

Pat Laffan - George Burgess

A very special mention has to go to actor Pat Laffan who sadly passed away in March 2019 and is best known for his role as the father of Sharon's baby, Georgie Burgess, in The Snapper.

Pat remained busy throughout his life, he appeared on the big and small screen at least a couple of times a year after the film was released. He even appeared in a handful of episodes of EastEnders in 1997 and of course as milkman Pat Mustard in Father Ted - another iconic role.

More recently he starred in Helen Mirren's The Queen in 2006. He was also in an episode of BBC's Quirke starring Gabriel Byrne in 2014.

There you have it, the cast of The Snapper look very different than they did over three decades ago!
